New phase for Ceylon sapphire with world record auction results at Christie's much anticipated jewellery auction in Geneva, Switzerland on 11 November.
The world famous Ceylon sapphire (Sri Lankan sapphire) known as Blue Belle of Asia, weighing an astonishing 392.5 carat was snapped up by a private collector for a whopping $US17 million.
Christie's also set a new world record in jewellery auction that brought in more than US$150 million in sales. The Blue Belle of Asia, mounted on a diamond necklace, was the highlight of the sale.
